The Governor of Ogun State, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun has called on Hon. Judges, Magistrates, and Law Officers to continue fulfilling their dual responsibility of ensuring political stability. They serve as the last hope for the common man.
He emphasized that the Judiciary must remain committed to the noble goal of ensuring that, while the three branches of government are independent, they must collaborate within the principles of the separation of powers for the overall benefit of the people of Ogun State.
Prince Dapo Abiodun made this statement during the Special Church Service marking the beginning of the 2023/2024 legal year, held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta.
The Governor praised Ogun State’s Chief Judge, Hon. Justice (Dr.) Mosunmola Dipeolu, FICMC, FHNR, and other Hon. Judges for their dedication to duty and reiterated that his administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of Judges in recognition of their lives of service.
“You have a challenging role, dispensing justice without fear or favor. You must refrain from socializing, engage in no business ventures, and dedicate your time to attentively listening to cases and delivering judgments,” the Governor remarked.
The Governor further emphasized that his government recognizes the importance of a strong and effective judicial system in successfully implementing the state’s developmental agenda.
In his sermon titled “The Wisdom of God in the Administration of Justice in Today’s Nigeria,” the Bishop of the Egba Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Emmanuel Adekunle, stressed the importance of Hon. Judges and those involved in administering justice being filled with the spirit of God to ensure their judgment is fair and impartial.
